The Human-Powered Submarine (HPS) team at UC San Diego is a student-led engineering organization that designs, builds, and races a fully flooded, human-powered submarine.

Following a two-year design cycle, our team prepares for the biennial International Submarine Races (ISR) in Bethesda, Maryland, dedicating hundreds of hours to our latest submarine.

HPS unites students from a wide range of majors and backgrounds, offering hands-on experience in machining, CAD, composite fabrication, and leadership. Many members go on to pursue research or industry roles influenced by their time on the team. Driven by a shared passion for engineering and innovation, our team is ready to make waves!
